DOUG SCHOLER


Senior Patent Attorney

Doug Scholer is a registered patent law attorney who represents sophisticated corporate clients, working closely with in-house counsel at many Fortune 500 companies during all phases of patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters. After graduating with honors from Notre Dame in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Scholer served as a military officer with the Foreign Material Exploitation Center working in conjunction with the Department of Defense and the National Security Agency to acquire and study foreign technologies. This valuable exposure to semiconductors, telecommunications, radar, satellite, aircraft, and other technologies segued into an interest in patent law and led Mr. Scholer to pursue a law degree with a concentration in intellectual property.

Mr. Scholer has a broad range of legal experience in intellectual property matters, including domestic and foreign patent prosecution and patent litigation. Mr. Scholer has extensive licensing, counseling, and opinion experience, in addition to representing clients in trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. Mr. Scholer's patent practice encompasses a wide range of technology in the electrical arts, including computer hardware and software, medical devices, fiber optic equipment, wireless and landline telecommunications, power generation, business methods, and storage systems.

    While attending law school, Mr. Scholer served as a telecommunications engineer for the U.S. Air Force. Captain Scholer later worked in the Foreign Material Exploitation Divisions of the Department of Defense and National Security Agency. Mr. Scholer developed battery technologies within the Electronic Car Division of General Motors.

    EDUCATION


    Mr. Scholer holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from the Salmon P. Chase Law School in Kentucky.
